Whether you come from Georgia or South Carolina, you'll end up on the Chattooga! We all have to begin somewhere, and the Chattooga River, along the border between South Carolina and Georgia, is where it began for us! It was 1971 when we pioneered the first commercial rafting trip down this amazing river. Since then, we've built up the Chattooga Adventure Center as a hub of activities from ziplining tours to the famous rafting choices available here.
Lodging options have sprung up as well, making a stay and play vacation all the easier and more enjoyable. Combine activities and benefit from our package discounts. Come play in the place that Southern Living Magazine says "every southerner ought to do"!
Section III of the Chattooga is the perfect trip for novices and family groups. Most of the rapids on this section are Class II and III, gradually increasing in difficulty as the trip progresses. Bull Sluice is the highlight of the trip.
Chattooga begins where the Wildwater Section III trip ends. This run covers the steepest section of river currently being run on a commercial basis in the Southeast. In a 1/4 mile gorge, the river drops more than 75 feet- Section IV can be the ultimate challenge for whitewater paddlers
The perfect trip for novices, families with younger children, and older guests wanting to spend a half day rafting. The trip features a portion of our regular Section III fully guided trip, includes a snack and concludes with the exciting challenge of Bull Sluice Rapid (optional).
More than just a zipline, Chattooga Ridge Canopy Tours takes you through multiple ecosystems and into grand old white oak and maple treetops. Take flight above the forest floor blanketed with mountain laurel, rhododendron, flame azalea, and other native plants. Share in the cultural history of the Long Creek Academy and the Chattooga River region.
Chattooga Overnighters offer a trip for those wanting the ultimate 2-day challenge. Raft Section III the first day, Overnight Camp in tents near the river and Raft Section IV the next day.
