FUTALEUFU RIVER
Chile’s Futaleufu River is one of the top Class IV-V rafting trips in the world. With its clear turquoise colored water and rapids which easily rival those of the Grand Canyon, the Futaleufu boasts Patagonia scenery reminiscent of Alaska and a summer season stretching from December through March.
The Futaleufu River pours dramatically through a breathtaking canyon of indescribable beauty boasting one impressive rapid after another. The vertical black basalt walls form the Gates of the Inferno Canyon, the most demanding and committing section of the Futaleufu containing several serious and continuous Class V drops.
Just below the canyon, the Futaleufu River widens with spectacular views of the Las Escalas Valley after which you encounter the rapids "Zeta" and "Throne Room". Following these, you raft the “Wild Mile”, a series of Class III-IV whitewater rapids leading to the confluence of the Futaleufu with the Rio Azul.
